Success in Perth

Best wishes to the wondrous Kea and Carl Brannen at the conference in Perth, Australia. They earned the best reception yet for their work. Out of the limelight, the real advances in science are being made.

Yes, Kea is wondrous, and now I understand better why she thinks about what I'm doing. I expect to see a lot more papers applying category theory to elementary particles soon. On the other hand, Kea still thinks the problems are immense. But one thing I've noticed is that the first step to solving a problem is believing that it can be solved (and that You are going to solve it).

Thanks, Louise, for your support, as always. The beaches here are wonderful, and it would have been nice to see you here.

Good luck with the category theory, Carl. It is not the difficulty of the problems that makes me so depressed ... it is the ongoing lack of support ... and the 40 years of advice from people who really should know better than to tell an educated woman, say, that she should get married and have children, or teach, or ...

Kea and I had breakfast this warning with an Australian Vietnam vet and had a nice conversation. I missed the draft for that one by a few years but worked at a weapons testing range through college.

We've been making excellent progress at understanding physics, I think. Kea is less optimistic.

Alas, now it's approaching time to take the long flights back.
